Collection

According to Story MFG co-founder Katy Al-Rubeyi, the AW21 collection, ‘Make Worlds’ is inspired by narratives of “the earth, craft, plants, happiness and good friends”. It sees the UK label continue its ongoing artist relationships, re-engaging Austin’s Will Gaynor for a series of illustrations that appear throughout the garments. Wax batik and tie-dye also take pride of place in this collection, in addition to the brand’s signature use of handweaving, natural dyes, and block prints, employed intentionally as an antidote to the fast-paced automation of the contemporary fashion landscape. Crocheted and embroidered elements are carefully embedded throughout, giving the clothes the quality of a tapestry or a quilt painstakingly assembled with the intention that it be and intended to be passed down through a family for generations.
