Stone Island brings their expertise in fabric treatments to the fore with this piece, a standout for the SS20 season. The jacket is made of a mid weight cotton nylon canvas, which is immersed in a solvent free layer of liquid polyurethane which then solidifies. The result is a garment that has an opaque quality with a snappy rubbery hand feel on the outside while maintaining the softer brushed canvas texture on the inner. The garment is then dyed with specialised dye recipes and the finished with a anti drop agent.
Every season, Italian label Stone Island endeavours not just to employ performance, but to redefine it. In pursuit of such ambitious aims, the label—whose research & development department has become legendary—utilize in-house research fabrics that enhance their garments across axes of function and aesthetic. In their latest collection, the luxury sportswear experimentalists explore new colourways, including an iridescent yellow, and a range of prints and textiles never housed before at Double Double.
