Sillage was founded just two years ago in 2019 by then 24 year-old Nicolas Yuthanan Chalmeau, a French citizen with Thai heritage who had recently moved to Tokyo after feeling its pull on a trip two years prior. Started with very little investment, Sillage has broken the rules of the fashion industry since day one. With the help of partner Masa—whose 15 years of experience and contacts Japan-wide are indispensable to the label’s success—Chalmeau, known by his middle name Yuthanan, has developed a unique online operating model, with no flagship storefront and very few stockists. Instead, the label functions largely through Instagram, holding occasional pop-up stores across Japan beyond to allow their customer base the opportunity to get a feel for their garments in person. At Double Double, we’re proud to be the first boutique in Australia or New Zealand to stock Sillage. This first instalment from the label includes an updated version of the piece that started it all—the Hakama pant—alongside other pants, shorts, jackets, and shirting, all employing Sillage’s unique approach to structuring oversized silhouettes.
With a shape continually refined over previous seasons, the Sillage W' Essential Wide Shirt brings classic shirting into line with the label's trademark aesthetic, with a wide and boxy fit. Part of the label's Collection Essentielle, this piece is cut from a fine cotton oxford fabric suitable for all climates.
Model is 175cm and wearing size OS.
