Founded on the backstreets of Harajuku at the turn of the millennium, ATMOS has grown to become a definitive name on the global sneaker landscape with branches across Japan, as well as in Seoul, New York and most recently Jakarta. With a continued focus on limited edition sneakers, the label now boasts regular limited-edition collaborations with some of the biggest footwear manufacturers. Naturally, when branching out from sneakers Dr. Martens was one of the first collaborators that Atmos sought out in 2010.
This most recent collaboration sees the Japanese label bring a distinctly utility-geared outdoor wear aesthetic to two Dr. Martens shoes, each in two colourways. Using various details—some explicit, some subtle—and materials borrowed from hiking boots and other outdoor footwear, this collaboration adds further functionality to some of the world’s most reliable shoes.
The Combs Tech boot is the statement shoe from this most recent collaboration between renowned British shoemaker Dr. Martens and Japanese sneaker purveyors Atmos, embodying the collaboration’s aesthetic in its fullest form. This boot nods to outdoor wear in materials, construction, and detailing.
Bearing resemblance to boots made for Northern hemisphere winters, the upper of the Combs Tech Boot comes together with the combination of leather and synthetic panels, providing a unique textural juxtaposition. With a padded tongue and ankle, this shoe takes innovations of the hiking boot and applies them for comfort and functionality; hiking boot-style boot lace hooks ensure you can get the most comfortable and secure fit possible.
This shoe also features an ankle strap with branded buckle for support; outdoor-wear inspired patterned laces; nylon stripe webbing tape down the tongue; collaboration branding on the tongue and down the heel tape; transparent “ice” Dr. Martens AirWair™ bouncing soles with visible yellow footbed; and the iconic AirWair™ heel loop.
